Right to Counsel for Low-Income Seniors at Risk of Losing Their Homes

Intro 648 – Right to Counsel Legislation – was introduced in the NYC Council on November 15th by Council members Rosie Mendez and Alan Gerson. The legislation would give low-income seniors at risk of losing their homes from eviction or foreclosure a right to legal representation. Quite a number of City Council members have signed on as sponsors of this legislation.

To find out more about this Right To Counsel for Seniors contact your City Council Representative -- if you do not know who your representative is you can call the City's information phone number 311 or go to
www.nypirg.org where you will be able to search for who represents you.

In the meantime, should a senior citizen you know need assistance with a housing related matter including eviction, please contact Strycker's Bay's office immediately at 212-874-7272.
