A THIRD OF THIS DEFICIT ACCOUNTS FOR PAYMENTS TO THE CITY

will conduct a hearing entitled,
“Oversight: NYCHA’s Payments to the City.”
IT IS A PUBLIC MEETING AND ANYONE CAN TESTIFY!
NYCHA PAYMENTS TO THE CITY
NYCHA Cannot Continue to Fund the City
—Waive/Renegotiate NYCHA
Payments!
$70 million annually to the NYC Police Department
$30 million annually to the NYC Department for the Aging
$23 million annually for PILOT payments in lieu of property taxes
Every city resident is entitled to police and aging services.
Why should NYCHA pay?
Budget $30 million annually to cover annual operating deficit in
City developments.
The city zero-out its payments to the city in 2003!
WHAT HAPPENS WITH DISINVESTMENT?
NYCHA staff are being laid off and positions not being filled.
Services will be cut, conditions may deteriorate.
Community Centers are closing for our SENIORS AND YOUTH!
Various fees are being raised including fees for repairs, utility cost
and EVEN RENTS!
Community Centers are closing
Section 8 voucher funds are to be used to cover the gap. (8,400)
Section 8 voucher waits longer, housing opportunities lost.
